Knowledge for Children (NGO) was founded in 2005 by Mr Maimo Jacob Shiynyuy, a retired inspector of Basic Education, from Cameroon and Arnold Roozenbeek (MSc) from the Netherlands. Our main objective is to improve the quality of education in rural primary schools in Cameroon. Textbooks are near non-existent in these schools and the reading culture is poor, which makes teaching and learning very difficult.
Knowledge for Children runs three programs:
1. Schoolbook Program
2. HIV/Aids and Malaria Prevention Program
3. Structural Knowledge Exchange Program
Knowledge for Children believes in the principle of co-investment. We work only with communities that are ready to contribute to the costs of our programs. This model has proven to increase ownership and self-reliance.
Through strategic partnerships, we complement our programmes with projects in the areas of construction and renovation of schools, computer literacy and income generation.
Since 2005, Knowledge for Children has distributed over 34.500 textbooks
